Ayurveda Fall tip: Guidelines for healthy eating

 

How you eat is just as important as what you eat. It all boils down to digestion and helping the body digest better will ensure optimal absorption of the food we eat. Our bodies are made from what we eat but if you don't eat properly nutrients will not be absorbed. Here are some Guidelines to follow:

  1. Take a few breaths before eating to establish a relaxed state (being relaxed helps absorption of nutrients).

  2. Chew completely to help break down food in the first stage of digestion.

  3. Minimize drinking too much fluid during eating to help digestive fluids from being diluted.

  4. Eating deliberately and consciously (lessen talking, and eating while doing other activities such as driving, watching TV etc.).

  5. Have a routine for eating.

  6. Eat in a relaxed comfortable environment.
